Paradise BRIT awards 2020 predictions

PLDN-2020-Brit-Awards-Predictions.

Who will win big at the BRIT Awards 2020? In a few hours, we’ll finally know.

As an agency working in the music space, supporting young & British musical talent, we felt it only right to ask the Paradise team to predict the winners & who they felt deserves to win at The Brit awards 2020.

Best New Artist

Nominees: Aitch, Dave, Lewis Capaldi, Mabel, Sam Fender.

It’s no secret Paradise is a big fan of Lewis Capaldi. He’s the biggest name in here and has been nominated for quite a lot of awards. We think Dave deserves the award in this category but believe Lewis will win it.

Who should win: Dave

Who will win: Lewis Capaldi

British Male Solo Artist

Nominees: Harry Styles, Lewis Capaldi, Dave, Michael Kiwanuka, Stormzy

This is a very strong category this year. All deserve the award so we’ll find out later who will be the winner.

Harry Styles got a number one album in the US with his second solo record Fine Line, Lewis Capaldi scored the biggest-selling UK artist of 2019, Michael Kiwanuka ended up on a number of “Best of 2019” lists together with Stormzy for his second record Heavy is the Head and Dave’s nomination follows his win for his debut album Psychodrama.

Who should win: Harry Styles

Who will win: Stormzy

British Female Solo Artist

Nominees: Charli XCX, FKA Twigs, Freya Ridings, Mabel, Mahalia

We strongly believe that FKA Twigs is one of the most interesting British artists right now. Her second emotional and very personal album Magdalene really got to us. She def deserves to win this award.

Who should win: FKA Twigs

Who will win: Mabel

British Group

Nominees: Coldplay, Foals, Bring Me The Horizon, D-Block Europe, Bastille

Very familiar names compared to the previous years. Anyways, Coldplay are great, they have to win this award. If not we believe Foals should get it.

Who should win: Coldplay

Who will win: Coldplay

Song of the year

Nominees: Ed Sheeran and Justin Bieber (‘I Don’t Care’), Mabel (‘Don’t Call Me Up’), Calvin Harris and Rag’n’Bone Man (‘Giant’), Dave ft Burna Boy (‘Location’), Mark Ronson ft Miley Cyrus (‘Nothing Breaks Like A Heart’), AJ Tracey (‘Ladbroke Grove’), Lewis Capaldi (‘Someone You Loved’), Tom Walker (‘Just You And I’), Sam Smith and Normani (‘Dancing With A Stranger’), Stormzy (‘Vossi Bop’)

We believe the winner will be Lewis Capaldi’s “Someone You Loved” (which is actually about his dead grandmother). I think this is anyone’s guess. (We got the honour to film him perform this banger live. (Click on Lewis’s name if you want to relive this moment together with us.)

If not Lewis, it must be one of the collaborations, most likely Mark Ronson and Miley Cyrus’s hit “Nothing breaks like a heart”.

Who should win: Lewis Capaldi

Mastercard Album of the Year

Nominees: Dave, Harry Styles, Capaldi, Kiwanuka and Stormzy

These are exactly the same nominees as for the Male Solo award. Can’t help but question where are the women? But again, all of these artists are extremely talented.

Who should win: Michael Kiwanuka – Kiwanuka

Who will win: Stormzy – Heavy is the Head

International Male Solo Artist

Nominees: Bruce Springsteen, Burna Boy, Tyler, The Creator, Dermot Kennedy, Post Malone

We see Bruce Springsteen reappearing again who released his record “Western Stars” last year. Personally, we strongly feel like Tyler, the Creator should get this win he’s still pioneering in his genre with his inventive hip hop.

Who should win: Tyler, the Creator

Who will win: Tyler, the Creator

International Female Solo Artist

Nominees: Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Camila Cabello, Lana Del Rey, Lizzo

This is in our opinion the strongest category. There are so many talented women in here, all five of them could win. Billie and Lizzo got their first-ever nominations at the BRITS so we’re feeling that it’s most likely for one of them to win.

Billie and Lana both had number 1 records this year. Despite Lana making such great music this year, we believe this is Billie’s moment.

Should win: Billie Eilish

Will win: Billie Eilish
