“We’re super happy to be working with Sister Pictures on ‘The Bisexual‘. We cannot wait to show everyone the finished EPK & what a wonderful cast and production team we’re working with.”
– Nick Jekyll, Creative Director, PARADISE
Paradise has been commissioned by Sister Pictures, Hootenanny & Award Winning Director Desiree Akhavan for The Bisexual to produce the exclusive BTS content which will form the EPK for the release of the show. The Paradise production team is on shoot over the next month filming featured interviews with cast members such as Maxine Peake and Brian Gleeson, who star in the show. We will also chat exclusively with the production team, producers, writers and the director of the show.
The show which showcases fresh, unknown talent also welcomes the familiar acting talents of the well-known actress Maxine Peake we asked her about what working on The Bisexual means to her.
“I’m thrilled? Or am I excited? Maybe I’m both but at the least very happy to be part of The Bisexual. Desiree is a really fresh, original and exciting voice and dead cool to boot. It’s fun, heartbreaking and thought-provoking and I get to ride a scooter, what’s not to like.”
– Maxine Peake (Black Mirror, Hamlet, The Village, Silk)
Fresh from winning the Grand Jury prize at this years Sundance for her previous show ‘Appropriate Behaviour’. Desiree Akhavan directs and stars in The Bisexual, a painfully funny comedy series co-written by Cecilia Frugiuele. Exploring the differences between dating men and women from the perspective of a person who finds herself doing both.
“I’m insanely lucky to be working with Hootenanny, Channel 4, Hulu and an incredible cast. This team couldn’t be more intelligent, generous and talented.”
– Desiree Akhavan, Writer/Director
The Bisexual is Executive Produced by Naomi de Pear (Flowers, River) for Hootenanny (a Sister Pictures company), is produced by Katie Carpenter and is commissioned for Channel 4 by Head of Comedy Fiona McDermott and Commissioning Editor Jack Bayles. The series will air in the US on Hulu. Global sales are being handled by all3media International.
“It was great to be sent the scripts and have the Paradise family read them giving their personal feedback ahead of strategy meetings. Knowing what we were being asked to produce and who the target audience of the show is, we wanted to make sure that the LGBT community was considered. The shooting style and production of the show will be pretty unique. Knowing Desiree’s previous film on Netflix, there is a very distinguishable style to her work and naturally, we wanted to make sure that the BTS and EPK content fit with her overall vision. Knowing the themes that the show is exploring, we want the content we shoot to be engaging and tease to what the show explores. We have chosen a very unique direction for the final edit which compliments the universal idea of perspectives and ‘awkward situations’ of dating“.
– Rich Staplehurst, Head of Strategy
