The Oscars 2023: Our recap

Let's talk about the Oscars 2023! The red carpet was lit with all the A-listers flaunting their fashion game. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban looked like a power couple, and the show kicked off with a bang when Jimmy Kimmel parachute dropped onto the stage to deliver his opening monologue.

The night's first award was for Best Animated Feature and went to Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio. Emily Blunt and Dwayne "The Scorpion King of my Heart" Johnson presented the award in the classic rock way.

Ke Huy Quan won Best Actor in a Supporting Role for Everything Everywhere All At Once and gave a heartfelt speech that had me in tears. Jamie Lee Curtis surprised everyone by taking home Best Actress in a Supporting Role for the same movie.

Navalny won Best Documentary Feature and An Irish Goodbye won Best Live Action Short Film. Michael B. Jordan and Jonathan Majors presented the award for Best Cinematography and All Quiet on the Western Front took the trophy. Ruth E. Carter won Best Costume Design for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, her second win!

All Quiet on the Western Front also won Best International Feature Film, while The Elephant Whisperers took home Best Documentary Short Film and The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse won Best Animated Short Film. Lady Gaga performed a stripped-down version of "Hold My Hand" from Top Gun: Maverick and Rihanna performed "Lift Me Up" from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, giving us all the feels.

Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan won Best Original Screenplay for Everything Everywhere All At Once, and Sarah Polley won Best Adapted Screenplay for Women Talking. Top Gun: Maverick won Best Sound and Everything Everywhere All At Once won Best Film Editing. The Daniels (Daniel Scheinert and Dan Kwan) won Best Director for the same movie, and Brendan Fraser won Best Actor for The Whale. Michelle Yeoh won Best Actress for Everything Everywhere All At Once. And drumroll, please... Everything Everywhere All At Once won Best Picture!

Everything Everywhere All At Once was crowned Best Picture, making it the big winner of the night.
